Ellen Miller - Operation Wallacea

Operation Wallacea (Opwall for short) is an organisation that manages conservation research expeditions in remote locations in 14 countries across the world. Large teams of scientists, academics and postgraduate researchers work together to monitor and assess biodiversity in these less developed countries, where funding from governments and national agencies often isn't available.

A significant part of Opwall's funding also comes from school students and university research assistants, who join the programme to help with data collection and to learn about the importance of conservation methods first hand. Old Ed Ellen Miller became one of these research assistants, thanks to funding from the BGOEC Loan & Gift Fund. Read her account of the trip below.
